1. The Mejlis of Turkmenistan has called early elections of deputies in three electoral districts in Ashgabat. This decision was made in connection with the early departure of current deputies from constituencies № 1 “Garashsyzlyk”, № 2 “Bitaraplyk” and № 6 “Kopetdag”. In accordance with the Electoral Code, voting for the election of deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan in these electoral districts will be held on July 7, 2024.

2. At the upcoming Forum in Paris to attract investments in the oil and gas sector of Turkmenistan, the issue of an effective way to reduce methane emissions from the “Darvaza” gas crater will be discussed. During the panel discussion, specialists from Turkmenistan, together with leading experts from international organizations and companies, will present their views on reducing methane and carbon dioxide emissions during hydrocarbon production.

3. The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Romania held a literary evening dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the Turkmen poet Magtymguly Fragi. The evening brought together many guests who became acquainted with the life and work of the great poet with interest. Translations of Magtymguly’s poems into different languages of the world aroused particular interest among those present.

4. At the II International Olympiad in Informatics, which was held in Ashgabat, students from Turkmenistan achieved impressive results, winning 43 medals, including 10 gold. The Russian team took second place with 17 awards, students from China took third place with 10 awards.

5. The Turkmen State Puppet Theater will take part in the 19th International Children's Theater Festival “Little Ladies, Little Gentlemen”, which will be held in Ankara from April 24 to 29. The festival in Ankara is traditionally dedicated to Children's Day and National Sovereignty Day of Türkiye, celebrated on April 23.

6. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a law completely banning the sale, distribution and advertising of vapes, electronic cigarettes, as well as liquids and flavors for them. The decision to ban vapes was made in order to protect the health of the population, especially young people, from the negative effects of nicotine-containing substances.

7. President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov awarded honorary titles to the players and coaching staff of the “Galkan” hockey club. The title of “Honored Coach of Turkmenistan” was received by the head coach of the “Galkan” hockey club Meylis Kuliyev and his assistant Ilyas Veliyev. Under their leadership, the team won gold medals at the tournament. The honorary title “Honored Master of Sports of Turkmenistan” was awarded to 17 hockey players of the club. The document was signed in connection with the achievement of high results at the international hockey tournament held in Ashgabat on April 15-20.
