A book that should have been returned 105 years ago was recently returned to the Colorado State Library. Mail.ru reports this.

The historical novel “Ivanhoe” by Walter Scott, according to the information on the cover, was supposed to be returned on February 13, 1919. And just this year, a Kansas woman, whose brother came across the book while going through his mother's belongings, donated it to the library.

According to the rules, late payments are subject to a fine of two cents per day. Sending a messenger to pick up the book costs another 25 cents. In this case, the fine for a 105-year delay could be 14 thousand dollars!

Fortunately, the Colorado State Library no longer charges fine for overdue books as of 2020.
