The President of Turkmenistan pardoned 356 convicts in honor of the Night of Omnipotence

356 citizens of Turkmenistan, convicted of crimes committed, but who regretted their actions and sincerely repented of it, were pardoned by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in honor of Gadyr Gidjesi (Night of Omnipotence). The head of state signed the corresponding Decree during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

Addressing the Secretary of the State Security Council, Chairman of the Commission for the Preparation of Proposals on Citizenship and Pardon Issues under the President of Turkmenistan Begench Gundogdyev, the head of state instructed to carry out, together with the heads of law enforcement agencies, the necessary work to release convicts from places of detention and return them to their families in the near future.

Hyakims of velayats, etraps and cities, as well as other leaders, were instructed to take appropriate measures to employ pardoned persons.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished citizens released from places of imprisonment to work conscientiously and with inspiration, to be involved in the large-scale transformations unfolding in the country, to sincerely serve their native Fatherland and to live enjoying the fruits of their labor.

The Night of Omnipotence occupies a special place during the Muslim month of Ramadan, which in Turkmenistan in 2024 runs from March 11 to April 9. Accordingly, Muslims will celebrate the blessed night (Gadyr gijesi), symbolizing virtue and spiritual purity, from April 5 to 6.
