The foreign ministers of Turkmenistan and Iran discussed prospects for cooperation

A meeting was held in Ashgabat between the head of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, who led the Iranian delegation during a working visit to the Turkmen capital, reports the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

At the negotiations, a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres were discussed. The parties paid special attention to the activities of the Joint Turkmen-Iranian Commission on Economic Cooperation, prospects for building ties in the fuel and energy sector and the transport and transit industry.

The ministers emphasized the importance of regular meetings at the highest and highest levels to strengthen friendly relations between the two countries. The parties also discussed preparations for upcoming joint events, in particular, Iran’s participation in large-scale international forums in Turkmenistan on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi.

At the end of the meeting, the diplomats expressed their mutual commitment to the further course of strengthening the Turkmen-Iranian partnership based on the principles of friendship, good neighborliness and mutual respect.
