The national team of Turkmenistan lost to Iran in the match of the 3rd round of the second qualifying round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a score of 0:5. The meeting took place at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran.
Persepolis defender Hossein Kanaani scored a double for the Iranian national team, Roma forward Serdar Azmun, Rostov midfielder Mohammad Mohebi and Sepahan defender Omid Nurafkan scored one goal each.
