Turkmenistan and GIZ discussed co-operation in trade facilitation

Representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan met in Ashgabat with Asel Uzagaliyeva, deputy head of the component of the programme “Trade Facilitation in Central Asia” of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), reported the official website of the service.

Uzagaliyeva informed the Turkmen side about the CA trade facilitation project completed in December 2023, implemented in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development commissioned the project with a total budget of 7 million euros. Within the framework of the initiative, the countries in question were supported in standardizing, simplifying and digitalizing trade procedures in accordance with the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement.

The GIZ representative discussed opportunities for cooperation with Turkmenistan within the framework of the programme “Trade Facilitation in Central Asia”. GIZ representative in Turkmenistan Ahmetar Kulov also participated in the meeting.
