More than 70 international delegates have already registered to participate in the International Forum to Attract Foreign Investment in Turkmenistan’s Energy Sector (TEIF 2024), which will be held on 24-25 April 2024 in Paris, France. Senior government ministers representing Turkmenistan's oil & gas, energy, construction, transport & communication sectors will present Turkmenistan's new investment opportunities at the Forum.

Why Paris?

Paris was chosen as the venue for the TEIF 2024 forum, not by chance. The capital of France is located in the heart of Europe, and hosts the headquarters of leading international organizations, energy companies, and financial institutions, such as UNESCO, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the International Energy Agency (IEA), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and many others.

Paris is France's most important economic, political, and cultural center, one of the leading European powers. The “heart of France” has constantly changed in different historical periods, but it has always embodied the masterpieces of European architectural art. The iconic sights of Paris include - the Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame de Paris, the Louvre, the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs-Élysées, and many other cultural heritage sights.

In the summer of 2024, Paris will host one of the largest international complex competitions—the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games. The French capital has hosted the Summer Olympic Games twice—in 1900 and 1924. Unsurprisingly, Paris attaches high importance to this year's historic event as it will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Olympic Games held in 1924.

Paris is one of the leading global capitals, a center of science, trade, art, and culture, and one of the largest transport hubs in Europe. All this makes the French capital ideal for a high-level investment forum.

Located in the heart of Paris and renowned for its modern conferencing, dining, and accommodation facilities, Hyatt Etoile - Paris' highest skyscraper hotel, will host the upcoming TEIF 2024.

Confirmed international speakers include Haitham Al-Ghais - Secretary General of OPEC; Fatih Birol – Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA); Tatiana Molchean - UN Deputy Secretary General and Executive Secretary of the UNECE; Li Yalan - President of the International Gas Union; Valerie Ducrot - Executive Director of the Global Gas Center (GGC); Julien Pouget – Senior Vice President of Renewable Division of TotalEnergies; Tim Gould - Chief Energy Economist of International Energy Agency (IEA); Constance Chalchat – Director of BNP Paribas, Ozgur Kutay – Country Manager for Turkey, Eastern Europe and Central Asia of UK’s Export Credit Agency and many others.

The primary focus of TEIF 2024 will be attracting foreign direct investment in the development of hydrocarbon resources in the offshore blocks of the Caspian Sea, innovative technologies for optimizing oil and gas production at mature fields, developing the next phases of the giant Galkynysh gas field, the implementation of Turkmenistan- Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, the construction of new gas and chemical facilities, as well as reducing the methane and associated gas emissions. The Paris Forum will also touch upon key aspects and investment opportunities in the construction, transport & communication sectors of the economy of Turkmenistan.

TEIF 2024 will bring together the heads and representatives of the leading national and international energy, construction, transport & communication companies, international organizations, and global financial institutions that shape the future of global energy. TEIF 2024 is held under the motto: “Invest in Reliable, Sustainable, Clean Energy,” and the key topics for discussion will include:

  • Turkmenistan's role in the future of global energy
  • The prospects of natural gas development in an energy transition
  • Reduction of methane and CO2 emissions in hydrocarbon production and alternative energy sources
  • Commodities for energy transition: new trends and investment opportunities
  • Accelerating the drive to attract investment in infrastructure projects of Turkmenistan with a focus on the construction, transport, and communications sectors
  • The role of financial institutions in promoting clean energy and modern infrastructure projects

The Paris Forum will highlight the issues of transition to clean energy and clean fuels, as Turkmenistan attaches great importance to promoting clean energy and has initiated the construction of a 10 MW hybrid solar-wind power plant on Lake Altyn Asyr. This facility is the first power plant in Turkmenistan to operate on renewable energy sources.

Within the framework of the Paris Forum, the organizers have also planned several study tours to the facilities of the leading French energy company, TotalEnergies, and a tour of the UN International Methane Observatory, where the technical capabilities of real-time screening of methane emissions will be presented and discussed.

The importance of such tours was proven by last year's forum experience, which included working tours of the Solar Park in Dubai, the world's largest power plant based on the conversion of sunlight energy.

Participation and business meetings with the senior management of Turkmenistan's energy, construction, transport & communication sectors will increase awareness and provide potential investors with the most complete information about new investment projects.

The deadline for registration for in-person participation in the Forum is 5 April and for online participation – 19 April. The organizers are also providing the Schengen visa support for all registered delegates.
