National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that the country can supply gas to Turkey and Europe, Kommersant reports.
According to the source, the head of the Halk Maslahaty said that gas from Turkmenistan can flow to Turkey and Europe through the Caspian Sea or Azerbaijan, for which the countries also need to sign a corresponding agreement. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov named supplies through Iran as an alternative option.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people added that the Turkmen Galkynysh field contains 27 trillion cubic meters. m of gas.
It is worth noting that Turkmenistan ranks 4th in the world in terms of natural gas reserves after Russia, Iran and Qatar.
Earlier it was reported that following negotiations between the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan on March 1 in Antalya a package of bilateral documents was signed, including:
- Declaration of intent on cooperation in the field of hydrocarbon resources between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Turkey;
- Memorandum of mutual cooperation on the development of partnership in the field of natural gas between the State Concern “Turkmengas” and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey;
- Memorandum of Understanding between Türkmenistan Airline Open Joint Stock Company and the University of the Turkish Aeronautics Association.
