An international scientific and practical conference dedicated to current issues of prevention, diagnosis and treatment of oncological diseases, which are among non-infectious diseases, was held in Ashgabat.
The forum was held at the Scientific and Clinical Center for Oncology of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan. It was attended by managers and oncologists from capital and velayat centers, medical and specialized educational institutions in Ashgabat, leading specialists from Germany, Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Belarus.
As reported in the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper, the forum was held in the format of exchanging experiences and presenting achievements in the prevention and treatment of cancer, which are among non-infectious diseases.
Participants discussed advanced therapies and the use of surgical techniques, as well as the use of laboratory testing in various countries.
In their speeches, Turkmen doctors spoke about methods of treating cancer and precancerous diseases, and shared the results of the preventive work carried out. In particular, they talked about the months of fight against malignant neoplasms of those localizations that tend to grow, carried out in recent years by the Scientific and Clinical Center of Oncology together with public organizations of the country. For example, the entire month of February is dedicated to the prevention of malignant neoplasms of the reproductive organs of women.
The speech of obstetrician-gynecologist at the Munich Clinic (Germany) Susan Spetsberg, who shared her 25 years of professional experience in the field of prevention of malignant neoplasms, aroused great interest among the forum participants. The results of the use of brachytherapy in oncology were reported by the candidate of medical sciences of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center of Oncology and Medical Radiology named after. N.N.Alexandrova Valentina Suslova.
Then, in a round table format, Turkmen and foreign experts discussed the features of the use of various methods in the treatment of diseases and their prevention, shared their personal experiences, and also talked about new developments by scientists in this direction.
The forum program also included joint consultation of patients of the National Oncology Center by Turkmen and foreign specialists, a master class for laboratory workers from Azerbaijani specialists, as well as an operation carried out jointly with Abdullah Serdar Achikgoz, a clinical professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Istanbul Cerrahpasa University of Türkiye.
Sharing his impressions, the head of the pathocytomorphological laboratory of the National Oncology Center of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Bahadur Abbasov, noted that such conferences are very important for the exchange of experience, especially in areas such as oncology. After all, their main goal is to provide optimal treatment to patients.
“The laboratories of our oncology centers conduct the same research, and the exchange of experience is very important for doctors”, he said, adding that he was impressed by the Oncology Center in Ashgabat with its modern level, and communication with doctors left a pleasant impression.
