Rose Tata Wekesa, a teacher from Nairobi, Kenya, broke the world record by teaching a lesson in physics, chemistry and biology in 62 hours, 33 minutes and 34 seconds. The lecture was held at the Kenya Multimedia University auditorium from February 13 to 16 and was broadcast live on YouTube. Baskagazete.com reports this.
Wekesa’s goal is to show the world that scientific disciplines are understandable and accessible to everyone.
“I taught this lesson to show that teaching is truly a noble profession and that teachers are people who should be respected”, - Wekesa said.
In preparation for the record-breaking lesson, Wekesa deliberately trained her resistance to sleep deprivation. She surpassed the previous record set in 2008 by an Indian teacher who taught for 50 hours.
Now the teacher is waiting for official confirmation of his achievement from the Guinness World Records.
