Turkmenistan strives to become a key logistics center in Eurasia, strengthening its position on international transport routes. The country is carrying out large-scale work to modernize its transport infrastructure and equip it with modern equipment.

As reported by CentralAsia.news, in recent years, Turkmenistan has been constantly improving the material and technical base of airports, sea and land transport. New facilities are being built, and the capabilities of air and sea ports are being increased.

Regular flights to the country are operated by Turkish Airlines, S7 Airlines, China Southern Airlines, FlyDubai and Cargolux. Foreign airlines use modern ground services at Ashgabat International Airport. In 2023, the airport served more than 1000 technical and 850 commercial flights.

Technical flights are also carried out to the airports of Turkmenabat, Turkmenbashy, Mary and Dashoguz. The national air fleet is being replenished with new aircraft, which expands the capabilities of air cargo transportation.

The seaport of Turkmenbashy is a convenient point for multimodal transport. In 2023, about 4 thousand containers, 15 thousand cars and other equipment were delivered by sea to other countries.

The Turkmen merchant fleet carries out transportation to the ports of Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Iran. It is planned to expand the fleet of tankers and passenger ships. The implementation of investment projects will significantly increase revenues from maritime transportation.

In general, Turkmenistan is demonstrating significant progress in developing transport infrastructure and increasing cargo transportation volumes. Active cooperation with foreign partners in the aviation and maritime spheres helps strengthen the country’s position as a major transit hub in Eurasia. The implementation of new infrastructure projects will permit Turkmenistan to further expand its transport potential and provide profitable logistics routes between Europe and Asia.
