Specialists from Turkmenistan are taking part in an international kabaddi seminar, which is currently taking place in the capital of Iran, the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper writes.

At the seminar, Turkmen trainers and judges improve their skills in the ancient Indian martial art, which has now become a popular sport.

The event is attended by specialists from the Martial Arts Federation of Turkmenistan, including its chairman, internationally renowned judge and vice-president of the International Kabaddi Federation Orif Bukharakov. At the end of the seminar, participants will receive appropriate certificates.

Let us note that kabaddi originated in India hundreds of years ago as a system of strikes and defense that permits one to withstand several opponents at once. Initially, kabaddi was available only to representatives of the upper classes, but nowadays it has become a mass and spectacular sport. Kabaddi is included in the program of major sports competitions in Asia, such as the Asian Games.

The essence of the game of kabaddi is simple. One of the team players enters the opponent’s half of the field and, in the allotted time, tries to touch as many opponents as possible, without permitting them to stop him. At the same time, it is allowed to use strikes and throws, which makes kabaddi similar to a martial art.

In addition to classic kabaddi, there is also a beach version of the game. In Turkmenistan, such competitions are often held in the summer on the coast of the Caspian Sea.
