Iranian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ali Mojtaba Ruzbahani announced plans to further strengthen economic ties between the countries. He said this during a festive reception at the Iranian Embassy dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, CentralAsia.news reports.
According to the diplomat, Turkmenistan is one of Iran's main partners in the region. The countries are actively increasing mutual trade, developing transit along the North-South route, and strengthening cooperation in energy and trade. Trade turnover between the states reached about 470 million USD.
In turn, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, noted that the economic partnership with Iran is developing on an integrated basis. Currently, the countries are working on a number of joint projects within the framework of the intergovernmental commission.
“In the near future, we plan, together with Iranian companies, to implement large-scale projects in the fields of transport and electricity in Turkmenistan,” Meredov said.
