In the Netherlands, a 58 years old man known as a “restaurant pirate” was arrested for failing to pay restaurant bills.

According to Oddity Central, the man has failed to pay restaurant bills more than 100 times over the past few years, reports daily.afisha.ru.

The arrest occurred after a man feigned a stroke in a Delft establishment. After examining him, the doctors who arrived at the scene realized that he was faking it and refused to take him to the hospital.

The restaurant owner accommodated the man, offering to pay the bill at a reduced price, and he agreed.

The visitor told the restaurateur his name and where he lived, but the paramedic noticed that a few minutes earlier the man had given the doctors a different name and address.

The restaurateur called the police, who took the man to the department and checked his documents. It turned out that the detainee is a known “restaurant pirate” who has received at least 127 complaints about non-payment of bills.

It is now unclear whether the man is in custody or whether he will be ordered to pay the thousands of euros he owes to Delft restaurants. Privacy laws prevent other establishments from knowing the man's name and likeness, so they cannot protect themselves from his scam.
