A reception was held in Ashgabat on the occasion of the 75th Republic Day of India. The event was attended by representatives of the ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, ambassadors of foreign states and heads of representative offices of international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan, a Turkmenportal correspondent reports.
Opening the reception, Charge d'Affaires of India in Turkmenistan Kanishka Singh noted that over the past 30 years, partnership between the two countries has received a powerful impetus for development in many areas.
India was one of the first countries to recognize Turkmenistan's independence in 1991 and established diplomatic relations in 1992. Since then, the states have built close cooperation in the political, economic, educational and cultural spheres.
In particular, hundreds of Turkmen students studied in India as part of Indian government programs.
-To date, more than 400 Turkmen citizens have been trained under ITEC, and more than 250 ICCR scholarships have been provided to Turkmen students”, - said a representative of the Indian diplomatic mission.
The Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan, Begench Gochmollayev, delivered a congratulatory speech from the Turkmen side. On behalf of the President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, he congratulated the people of India on Republic Day, noting that today all the necessary conditions are being created to strengthen friendly relations between the two countries, preserve and steadily deepen traditional cooperation.
At the reception, an exhibition about Indian culture was organized and artists from the two countries performed, demonstrating the richness of traditions and the strength of friendly ties.
