The Iranian national team defeated the United Arab Emirates team with a score of 2:1 in the third round of the group stage of the final part of the 2023 Asian Cup.
This victory permitted the Iranians to take first place in group C, gaining the maximum number of points in three matches. The UAE team also qualified for the playoffs from second place in the group.
The main hero of the meeting was Iranian national team striker Mehdi Taremi, who scored a double in the 26th and 65th minutes. Taremi scored both goals after passes from “Roma” forward of Turkmen origin Serdar Azmoun. Yahya Ali Said pulled one back in stoppage time to make the final score 2-1.
Let us remind that 24 teams are taking part in the final part of the Asian Cup. At the group stage they are divided into 6 groups. The two strongest teams from each group and the four best third-place finishers advance to the playoffs.
