The Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, together with ministries and industry departments, the hyakimliks of the velayats, the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag, has prepared a draft “Program for the socio-economic development of the country for 2024,” TDH reports.
As Deputy Prime Minister Hojamyrat Geldimyradov reported during the Government meeting, this document was developed in accordance with the “Program of the President of Turkmenistan for the socio-economic development of the country for 2022–2028” and the State Budget for 2024.
In accordance with the draft Program, during the year it is planned to implement measures aimed at ensuring macroeconomic stability and strengthening the economic power of Turkmenistan, sustainable GDP growth, and the development of industries and regions. It is also planned to achieve the full production capacity of industrial enterprises and create new jobs in the velayats.
Among the top priorities are an increase in export destinations by increasing the competitiveness of the national economy, the development of import-substituting industries, and the growth of production of environmentally friendly, high-quality agricultural products and food products. Along with this, work will continue to provide state support to agricultural producers, ensure food abundance, high-quality transport, housing and communal services, social and other types of services to the population, as well as the dynamic development of small and medium-sized businesses, the creation of a favorable business environment, and the improvement of public-private partnerships.
After listening to the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the implementation of the measures outlined in the draft Program for the socio-economic development of the country for 2024 is designed to ensure sustainable growth of Turkmenistan in the economic and social aspects, strengthen the power of industries and regions, and increase the level of employment and life of the population.
In this regard, the Deputy Prime Minister was instructed to once again analyze the macroeconomic indicators defined in the Program for the current year, production plans for all sectors of the economy, and socio-economic growth indicators for velayats and cities.
