A consultative meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan to discuss the draft “National Program for Improving the System of Social Services for 2024-2028”. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss issues of further improving the social protection system in the country.
According to the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, the event was attended by representatives of ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, public organizations, as well as UN agencies. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the joint program of the Government of Turkmenistan and the UN to improve the system of social services at the local level.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mahri Bashimova emphasized the importance of the country’s long-term cooperation with UN agencies in the development of national programs in the social sphere. She noted that during the preparation of the new program, the indicators of the UN Sustainable Development Goals were adapted to its content.
The meeting participants also discussed the prospects for further interaction between Turkmenistan and the UN in matters of implementation of social policy.
