In December, the Magtymguly Turkmen State University hosted the forum “Turkmenistan - UNESCO: the education system on the path to sustainable development”, organized jointly by the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the Secretariat of the National Committee of Turkmenistan for UNESCO.
The event was attended by the Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, Hero of Turkmenistan Chinar Rustemova, professors and teachers of higher educational institutions, representatives of UNESCO departments and secondary schools that are part of the UNESCO Associated Schools network.
During the presentations, information was presented on the topics “The Great Silk Road: “Zarafshan - Karakum Corridor”, “Turan Deserts in the Temperate Zone”. The reports “Blessed Karakum”, “Gaplangyr”, “Repetek” and “Yeraji” were devoted to Turkmen reserves, which are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
At present time, UNESCO clubs in a number of higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan are conducting activities to study the material, spiritual and cultural values of the people in combination with world values, and presenting them to the international community through scientific research.
Within the framework of the event, was held an exhibition and concert of students from the cultural center of the university “Voices of Happiness”.
At the end of the ceremony, on behalf of the Secretariat of the National Committee of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, certificates of honor were presented to active members of UNESCO departments and clubs, according to the Turkmen State University website.
