The State Committee of Turkmenistan on Statistics, with the support of UNICEF and UNFPA, launched the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) to collect up-to-date and detailed data on the well-being of children and their families, reports the IIC.

The study will provide important information for the development of government programs in the interests of children.

From January to April, trained field teams will visit 6800 households across the country. MICS questionnaires cover health, nutrition, education and social protection topics. The data obtained will also serve to monitor the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in Turkmenistan.

“MICS has been effectively implemented in Turkmenistan since 1996 and serves as an important source of data on the country’s socio-economic development with a focus on children and women. For the survey to be successful, the participation of all selected households is required. We invite everyone to participate in interviews when the field teams arrive at your home”, - said Alexandru Nartea, UNICEF Deputy Representative in Turkmenistan, writes IIC.
