Turkmenistan and the electric power company Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) have concluded a deal to supply 1,8 billion kilowatt-hours of Turkmen electricity to Afghanistan in 2024, reports the online publication News Central Asia.
The contract was signed during the visit of DABS General Director Muhammad Hanif Hamza to Turkmenistan, who met with the Minister of Energy of Turkmenistan Annageldi Saparov and the management of the “Turkmenenergo” Corporation.
The deal provides for the supply of Turkmen electricity through four lines - Andkhoy, Akina, Badghis and Turgundi-Herat.
During meetings in Ashgabat, Hamza confirmed that Afghanistan is committed to completing the 500 kV transmission line between Sheberghan and Arghandi. This line will increase the import of electricity from Turkmenistan.
In addition, the parties discussed the implementation of a project to modernize the Nur ul-Jihad substation in Herat province. DABS and “Turkmenenergo” agreed to speed up the completion of this project.
