At the World Junior Hockey Championships in Sweden, a sensation occurred - the current world champions, the Canadian team, were unable to make it to the semi-finals.
In the quarterfinal match, the Canadians unexpectedly lost to the Czech team with a score of 2:3. For the first time since 2019, the Canadian youth team was left without medals at the world championship.
Throughout most of the meeting, the Czechs were in the lead - after two periods they were ahead of the Canadians 2:0. The Canadian team managed to equalize the score, but 11 seconds before the final siren the Czechs scored the winning goal.
Thus, the current world champions were unable to defend their title. The Czech Republic will continue to fight for medals and will meet with the Finnish team in the semifinals.
