The results of the outgoing year 2023 in Turkmenistan were summed up by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov at a joint meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and the State Security Council, writes the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
Addressing the meeting participants, the head of state noted that this year 46 meetings of the Cabinet of Ministers, 10 meetings of the State Security Council, as well as 44 various state meetings were held.
As noted, program measures are being taken to develop the national economy, and high growth rates are being achieved in all sectors. The program “Revival of a new era of a powerful state: National program for the socio-economic development of Turkmenistan in 2022–2052” is being successfully implemented.
A 10 percent increase in wages, pensions, government benefits and student scholarships were funded in a timely manner.
The current national legislation is being improved in accordance with the requirements of the time.
“We are successfully implementing a policy built on the principles: “The state is for the people!”, “The state is a state only with the people!” - President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized, noting with satisfaction that the construction of facilities continues in all regions of our independent Fatherland industrial and social infrastructure, large residential complexes.
The now ending year “Happy youth with Arkadag Serdar”, which has already entered the modern history of Turkmenistan, was marked by a number of unforgettable events of both international and domestic political significance, affecting various aspects of the socio-economic and spiritual development of the state, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov continued.
As noted, a landmark in this series was the opening in June 2023 of the unique “smart” city of Arkadag, which on a legislative basis received a special legal status - a city of national significance.
As it known, the implementation of this megaproject is planned in two stages. Within the framework of the completed first stage of development, 336 objects of social, cultural and other purposes were erected.
The construction of a “smart city”, a center of digital and “smart” technologies that has no analogues in the region, initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, became an indicator of the economic potential of our state, its aspiration to the heights of scientific and technological progress.
The white marble capital of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, which, on the initiative of Hero-Arkadag, was included in the UNESCO Global Network of Creative Cities in the “Design” category, remains a visible man-made symbol of the Renaissance era of the new era of the powerful state.
Regarding foreign policy issues, the head of state noted the successful implementation of the Concept of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy for 2022–2028.
Our neutral Motherland is making the necessary efforts to solve the most pressing problems in the field of maintaining peace and security in the region and the world.
– Constructive interaction with authoritative international and regional structures, primarily with the United Nations, is consistently expanding. A number of resolutions of the UN General Assembly were prepared and adopted at the initiative of our neutral state, - continued President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
At the same time, independent Turkmenistan carries out effective work together with major international and regional organizations and structures.
During this year, our country has continued its consistent work to ensure global peace, stability and security, develop international economic and trade cooperation, build up relations with countries of the world in the field of culture, scientific and educational sphere and in sports. The content of interparliamentary interaction is expanding and enriching.
Turkmenistan is making the necessary efforts to implement the Sustainable Development Goals, attaching special importance to partnership in such areas as energy security, sustainable transport system, climate change, etc. The measures implemented by our country are widely supported by the countries of the world and authoritative international organizations.
This is confirmed by the unanimous adoption this year at the initiative of Turkmenistan at the UN General Assembly of the Resolutions “The Role of the United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia” and “World Sustainable Transport Day”, as well as the election of our state to four international structures.
In order to popularize the historical and cultural heritage of the Turkmen people in the world on an effective and comprehensive basis, cooperation is carried out with the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. Thus, the nomination “The Art of Ahal-Teke Horse Breeding and Horse Decoration Traditions” presented by our country was included in the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
In addition, the multilateral nominations “The Great Silk Road: Zarafshan-Karakum Corridor”, as well as “Turanian Temperate Deserts”, proposed together with the Republics of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, proposed for consideration by UNESCO by Turkmenistan together with the Republics of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, are included in the World Heritage List.
