The “Pizzeria of Horrors” festival was held in Naples, Italy, where pizzas with unusual and sometimes disgusting toppings for Italians were presented. Lenta.ru reports this with reference to Coldiretti.
At the festival you could try pizza with reptile meat from Hong Kong, crickets and beetles from Southeast Asia, kangaroo and ostrich meat from Australia, zebra meat from South Africa, chicken, pineapple and macaroni and cheese from the USA, cod with boiled eggs from Portugal.
Pizzas from Sweden, where turkey with honey, cabbage salad, meatballs and even chocolate with canned fruit were added to the dish, caused surprise and mixed reactions among festival guests.
According to a survey conducted at the festival, 14% of Italians were very disappointed with pizza abroad, and 22% were simply dissatisfied, 26% did not trust it and had never eaten it outside Italy, 6% were enthusiastic about foreign pizza and 20% – found it satisfactory.
