The opening ceremony of the World Climate Summit, organized within the framework of the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change - COP28, was held in Dubai.
As reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan, the event is attended by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who arrived in the UAE on a working visit.
At the opening ceremony, the President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres delivered welcoming remarks.
Next, the Global Forum will continue to work in the format of plenary sessions. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov will speak at the climate summit and voice Turkmenistan’s position on the agenda, the source notes.
“Thus, the participation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in the Global Climate Forum again clearly confirms the commitment of neutral Turkmenistan to fulfill its obligations to the world community. After all, the Earth is our common home, which we must protect and preserve for future generations. In an effort to help optimize international cooperation in solving vitally important tasks that have a multidimensional dimension, our country is making a concrete contribution to strengthening coordinated joint actions on which the future of all humanity depends”, - the statement says.
