Domain name registrar Google Registry has launched a new domain - .meme. This will permit meme websites to more directly indicate their “specialty”, writes Ferra.ru.
You can get the .meme domain now during the Early Access period by paying an exclusive one-time fee. Public registration at the standard annual price will be open on December 5.
This isn't the first time Google's registry has offered non-traditional domains like .dad and .boo. And in early November, the top-level domain .ing joined them. Such an address is not cheap. For example, registering the think.ing domain will cost 39 thousand USD per year, and buy.ing will cost 130 thousand USD.
According to Google, such domains will permit companies to more accurately express their activities.
