The International Robot Exhibition and Robotics IREX 2023 has opened in Tokyo. This year, the exhibition presents the developments of more than 650 companies from all over the world, which organized over 3,5 thousand stands. TASS reports this.
Most of the exhibits feature robotic arms and manipulators capable of performing a variety of tasks, from lifting to those requiring fine motor skills. The exhibition presents both the latest developments of industry giants such as Kawasaki, Epson, Yaskawa and Fanuc, as well as the developments of small private companies and research centers.
Visitors to the exhibition can not only get acquainted with the latest robotics products, but also try their hand at competitions with robots. For example, at one of the exhibitions you can compete in basketball with a mechanized arm.
“When you look at these robots, you can’t help but think that very soon they will begin to do many types of work for people”, a visitor to the exhibition told a TASS correspondent. “On the one hand, this is great in light of the aging population and the labor shortage, but on the other hand, you are a little worried that there will come a time when people will have to compete for jobs taken by robots”.
The IREX exhibition has been held every two years since 1973.
