Deputy Chairman of the State Sports Committee of Turkmenistan heads the Statistics Committee of the International Kurash Federation

Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports, head of the Kurash Federation of Turkmenistan Serdar Atayev headed the Statistics Committee of the International Federation of this type of wrestling (IKA). 53 delegates of the IKA congress, held in the conference hall of the Sport Hotel in the Olympic village, unanimously voted for his candidacy, the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age” reports.

A representative of Turkmenistan is elected for the first time to the International Kurash Federation, which unites 118 national federations from Asia (32), Africa (22), Europe (33), North and South America (22) and Oceania (9).

44-year-old Serdar Atayev has been serving as chairman of the Kurash Federation of Turkmenistan since February 23, 2022, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary next year. It was formed in December 2014.

After the admission of the Kurash Federation of Turkmenistan to the corresponding International Association (IKA) and the Kurash Confederation of Asia and Oceania (KCAO), since 2015, Turkmen masters of this type of wrestling began to participate in world championships and other major international competitions.

Before the current world championship in Ashgabat, Turkmen athletes took part in four world kurash championships in Iran, Turkey, the Republic of Korea and India, where they stood on the podium 21 times, winning a total of 2 gold, 7 silver and 12 bronze medals.
