Turkmenistan adopts foreign experience in the field of border control

European Union experts arrived in Turkmenistan on a technical mission aimed at strengthening interdepartmental cooperation between the country's customs, phytosanitary and veterinary services responsible for border control, reports the website of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.

The Turkmen capital was visited by Sandra Karklin-Admin, Deputy Director of the Customs Department of the State Revenue Service of Latvia, and Iveta Sice-Trede, Head of the Border Control Department of the Food and Veterinary Service of Latvia.

During the meeting at the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan with EU experts, specific mechanisms of interaction between various regulatory authorities were considered, and an analysis of the current legislation was carried out to develop recommendations for its improvement.

The negotiators emphasized the importance of an integrated approach to managing state borders to ensure security and development of international trade.

The meeting was organized by the EU Border Management Facilitation Program in Central Asia - Phase 10 (BOMCA 10) under the Facilitating Legal Trade Flows across Borders component.
