The national team of Turkmenistan played away in a draw with the Hong Kong team in the second round of the qualifying round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The match was held at the “Hong Kong” stadium and ended with a score of 2:2.
As part of the Turkmen team, midfielder of Hong Kong “Kitchee” Ruslan Mingazov scored a brace (4th and 36th minutes). Having won back twice during the match, the hosts still managed to draw the game thanks to goals from Wei Wong and Everton Camargo.
In another match of group “E”, the players of the Uzbekistan national team, losing to Iran during the meeting in Tashkent, also managed to bring the match to a draw – 2:2. Ramin Rezaeyan and Mehdi Taremi scored for the guests, and Oston Urunov and Igor Sergeev scored goals for the Uzbek team.
Let us note that in group “E”, following the results of two rounds, Iran retained first place with 4 points. Uzbekistan ranks second with 4 points, followed by Turkmenistan and Hong Kong (1 point each).
The Turkmenistan national team will play matches of the third and fourth rounds in qualifying for the 2026 World Cup in March 2024 - on March 21, the Turkmen team will play away against Iranian football players, and on March 26 they will host the same team in Ashgabat.
