Turkmenistan and Iran confirmed their readiness to develop gas cooperation during a meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian Commission on Economic Cooperation in the Turkmen capital, TDH reports.
In particular, Ashgabat expressed its readiness to increase the volume of natural gas supplies to Iran via the Korpeje-Kurt-Kui gas pipeline, as well as through the Çaloýuk station.
Turkmenistan also announced plans to increase natural gas supplies through Iran to third countries through a swap scheme. This information was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, at the Turkmen-Iranian business forum in Ashgabat.
New initiatives in the field of gas cooperation have become an important step in the development of strategic relations between Turkmenistan and Iran. Ashgabat and Tehran confirmed their readiness for a long-term and mutually beneficial partnership that will contribute to the sustainable development of the region.
