Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has applied for a license to sell its first electric car. The car, called SU7, will be produced under contract by Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co. Ltd (BAIC), not Xiaomi. Previously, the electric car was known under the code name MS11. This was reported by finam.ru with reference to CarNewsChina.
Xiaomi SU7 is an electric sedan with dimensions of 4997/1963/1455 mm and a wheelbase of 3000 mm. It will be available in two wheel options: 19 and 20 inches. The tire size will be 245/45 R19 and 245/40 R20, respectively.
Xiaomi showed two versions of SU7: with and without lidar. The lidar is installed behind the windshield.
Let us remind that Xiaomi announced plans to produce electric vehicles in March 2021. The company said it would invest 10 billion yuan (1,4 billion USD) in the project. In August 2023, Xiaomi registered the domain XiaomiEV.com.
