Turkmenistan intends to create new border trade zones with the involvement of specialists from the Economic Cooperation Organization.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported about this at the next meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
The application is aimed at implementing the initiatives put forward by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to enhance cross-border and regional trade during the 16th ECO Summit in Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of the development of cooperation with the ECO member countries, Turkmenistan also plans to ratify the Economic Cooperation Organization Framework Agreement on Transport and Transit Transportation and its Protocol, the head of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said.
In addition, in the 1st quarter of 2024 it is planned to hold the Economic Cooperation Organization Forum on Sustainable Development in the city of Arkadag, as well as take steps to declare the city of Mary the tourist capital of the ECO in 2027.
