The strike began in July 2023, when the American Federation of Television and Film Actors (SAG-AFTRA) demanded higher wages and restrictions on the use of artificial intelligence in the production of films and TV series. The actors' strike was the first since 1980 and the longest in Hollywood history. It caused serious damage to the film industry, whose losses during this time exceeded 5 billion USD.
