Actress of the National Music and Drama Theater named after Magtymguly Gulnabat Abdullayeva won in the category “Best Actress” at the I International Theater Festival TURKSOY, reports the website azernews.az.
The festival laureates were announced at the closing ceremony, which was held at the Azerbaijan State Academic Musical Theater.
Turkmen artists presented at the festival the play Söýgi we hasrat (“Love and Suffering”) based on the play by Turkmen playwright Govshutgeldy Dangatarov. The plot of the work is based on biographical facts and the poetic heritage of the Arab lyricist Qais ibn al Mulawvah, as well as on popular legends about the tragic love of Leyli and Majnun.
Along with Turkmenistan, theater groups from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Türkiye also took part in the festival.
