Farmers in Ahal velayat grow “Cavendish” bananas in the desert. For this purpose, a tropical oasis was created from greenhouses, the height of which is 9 meters, the area is 5 hectares.

According to the MIR 24 TV channel, 10 thousand trees were planted in greenhouses. Banana seedlings were brought from Türkiye, and they took root well in the new conditions. The trees have already begun to bear their first fruits. One banana bunch weighs 30-35 kg.

The greenhouses have advanced equipment from Türkiye, Germany, and Spain. Unique irrigation system.

“At any time of the year, we maintain the temperature in the greenhouses from 25 to 35 degrees. One of the most important factors for bananas is humidity, and therefore it is always at the level of 75 – 80%. Sandy soil is great. All we have to do is enrich it with fertilizers”, - says agronomist Bagtyyar Hudayberdiyev, who spent 3 years mastering all the intricacies of growing bananas.

Bananas are stored in barns for three days to turn yellow. They are then washed, packaged and sent to market.

Farmers plan to collect 250 tons of fruits.

At this time, Ahal bananas go only to the domestic market. However, in the future, farmers plan to increase the area of greenhouses for growing mangoes and avocados.

We also plan to start exporting our products.
