The President of Turkmenistan discussed bilateral relations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit. During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the development of bilateral relations, announced the “Watan” news program.

It was noted that Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation is strategic and is entering a qualitatively new stage of development.

It was especially emphasized that the dynamic dialogue at the highest level of the two fraternal countries, united by a historically established cultural and spiritual community, is based on complete mutual understanding and openness.

As noted, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, having close or similar positions on regional and global issues, primarily related to ensuring global peace and security, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, interact constructively in the international arena.

A separate topic of discussion was effective cooperation within the UN and a number of other international and regional structures. Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan provide mutual support for each other’s initiatives and proposals.

Taking this opportunity, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished success to the upcoming 16th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization, which will be held in Tashkent.

It was emphasized that in terms of multi-vector Turkmen-Uzbek contacts, a special place is given to trade and economic ties. In this context, the positive dynamics of bilateral trade turnover, as well as active interaction in the fuel and energy, transport and logistics, agricultural and other sectors, were noted.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence that the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will continue to develop successfully for the benefit of the two fraternal peoples.
