A session on information and communication technologies was held in Ashgabat within the framework of the 16th Cooperation Forum “Central Asia – Republic of Korea”. Representatives of relevant ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, the Republic of Korea, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan took part in it, informs a Turkmenportal correspondent.
Delegates discussed opportunities for cooperation in the field of digital development, including in the field of e-government, information and communication technologies and digital education.
Representatives of Turkmenistan spoke about the activities being carried out in the country for the digitalization of the economy and society, including those provided for by the “Concept for the development of the digital economy in Turkmenistan for 2019-2025”, as well as the decision “On the creation and implementation of an electronic document management system and the development of Internet websites in Turkmenistan”.
Chief Manager of the Digital Government Planning Group of the National Information Society Agency (NIA) of the Republic of Korea Lee Suyin expressed his readiness to cooperate with Turkmenistan in the field of digital development. He noted that the Republic of Korea has advanced technologies in this area and can provide Turkmenistan with support in the development of the digital economy.
Lee Suyin also said that the parties are currently in the initial negotiations stage. Within the framework of these negotiations, it is planned to identify specific projects and areas of cooperation.
Let us note that Lee Suyin visited Turkmenistan for the first time and was very impressed by Ashgabat. He called the Turkmen capital a real white marble pearl.
