The “Model UN” competition was held among students of Turkmenistan

On Tuesday, the Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan, together with UNDP, held the “Model UN” competition among students from 5 universities in the country in the format of a simulation of the UN General Assembly.

The competition was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and the 30th anniversary of the Vienna Declaration and Plan of Action (VDAP), the UNDP press service reports.

Students performed in a simulation format of the UN General Assembly on topics such as: issues of peace and security, ensuring the rights and opportunities of people with disabilities, protecting the rights of children, gender equality issues, as well as the role of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Vienna Declaration and Plan of Action in preventing racial discrimination.

The jury of the competition included representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan, as well as national and international experts from the UNDP.

The best student performances were awarded with prizes and certificates.
