In the most prestigious Davis Cup competition, the team of Turkmen tennis players will compete in the fifth group of the Asia and Oceania zone in 2024. This became known following the results of the zonal tournament that ended in Antalya (Turkey), during which 8 teams competed for two tickets to Group III.
According to the results of the draw, the Turkmenistan team was placed in subgroup “B”, where it played against Kyrgyzstan (0:3), Kuwait (0:3) and Guam (1:2). In the decisive match, Mirali Hasanov’s team lost to the UAE team (1:2) in the relegation match from Group IV of the Asia and Oceania zone.
It is worth noting that the right to compete in Group III of the Asia and Oceania zone in 2024 was won by the teams of Singapore and Syria, which in the playoffs defeated the tennis players of Kyrgyzstan - 2:0 and Kuwait - 2:0, respectively.
Together with the team of Turkmenistan in 2024, tennis players from Guam, who lost to the Iraqi team in the elimination match with a score of 2:0, will compete in the fifth group of the Asia and Oceania zone.
