Director of the State Museum of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan Meretgeldy Charyev was appointed temporary head of the TURKSOY Union of Museums for 2024 in connection with the election of the city of Anau as the cultural capital of the Turkic world. Museum.gov.tm reports this.
The transfer of powers became known within the framework of the II conference of the TURKSOY Union of Museums at the National Carpet Museum of Azerbaijan in Baku. It was attended by leaders and representatives of museums of the Turkic states, members of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of TURKSOY.
More than 30 specialists from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Gagauzia (Moldova) spoke at the conference.
The forum participants expressed their readiness to promote the activities of the TURKSOY Union of Museums aimed at developing Turkic culture and improving museum work. Representatives of the museums spoke in favor of active cooperation and exchange of experience in order to preserve and popularize the cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples.
The TURKSOY Union of Museums is an association of museums of the Turkic world, which was created in 2013 under the auspices of the International Organization of Turkic Culture. The purpose of the Union is cooperation and exchange of experience between museums representing various aspects of Turkic culture, history, art and heritage.
