Popular musicians and artists of Turkmenistan gave a gala concert in the capital of Austria dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi.
Honored artists of Turkmenistan Garyagdy Saryev, Leyli Okdirova and others performed songs based on poems by Magtymguly. The Youth Chamber Orchestra of Turkmenistan under the direction of Rasul Klychev accompanied them with the music of Turkmen composers Nury Halmamedov, Chary Nurymov, Hydyr Allanurov and others. The sound of modern melodies combined with the deep poetry of Magtymguly made a strong impression on the listeners.
In addition to symphonic music, folk works performed by a Turkmen ensemble on national instruments - dutar and gyjak - were performed in the famous Vienna concert hall Ehrbar Saal.
The concert ended with the solemn song Gel, Türkmenistana! (“Come to Turkmenistan!”), performed by People’s Artist of Turkmenistan Atajan Berdyev and Honored Artist of the country Leyli Okdirova.
The stormy ovation of the Austrian public once again demonstrated that Magtymguly’s poetry, imbued with philosophical depth and love for the homeland, has long crossed national borders and become the property of world culture.
In general, the vibrant performance of Turkmen artists in Vienna reflected the growing interest of the European public in the culture and art of Turkmenistan. This concert became a significant event in the development of cultural ties between the two countries, and served to further strengthen friendly relations between the peoples of Turkmenistan and Austria.
