The construction of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline contributed to the formation of a new architecture of relations in the energy sector. This was stated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, speaking at a high-level conference on interconnectivity within the framework of the III International Forum “One Belt, One Road” in Beijing.
“The commissioning of a gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to China in 2009 marked the beginning of the formation of a new architecture of relations in the energy sector on the continent, opening up prospects for other states to join the project on a mutually beneficial and equal basis”, - the State News Agency of Turkmenistan quotes the words of the chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people also spoke about plans to expand the geography and volumes of supplies of Turkmen gas and electricity. It was noted that power transmission and fiber-optic communication lines have been laid in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The agenda includes the implementation of a number of new major projects in these segments.
