What is “retrograde” and how it can generally influence life on Earth, astrologer Pavel Maksimov explained on the pages of the newspaper “Arguments and Facts”.

The term “retrograde” means movement in the opposite direction from the main direction. Mercury retrograde is an optical illusion, because not a single planet can leave its orbit or change the direction of its movement along it. This illusion occurs because the speed of movement of the planets of the solar system is different. The Earth sometimes overtakes other planets, sometimes “lags behind.” When observing this movement, astronomers have the illusion that some planets are moving in the opposite direction. This happens once every 3-4 months every earthly year and lasts on average 3 weeks. Most often, the Earth is “overtaken” by Mercury - it has the shortest orbit, since it is located closest to the Sun.

Astronomers report that the retrograde of Mercury and other planets does not have any effect on life on Earth. Psychologists, in turn, are sure that it is not the location of the planets that influences, but how we relate to it. You should always solve problems and take care of your health, and not just during the period of “Mercury retrograde”.
