From 2024, Amsterdam will introduce the largest tourist tax in Europe, writes “Europulse”. The money will go towards maintaining the cleanliness and comfort of the capital of the Netherlands.
The increase in tourist tax is caused by an excessive increase in the number of tourists visiting Dutch cities. The tax for tourists staying overnight in hotels in Amsterdam will be increased from 15,25 to 21,80 euros per night per person, and for cruise ship passengers spending the night on the ship rather than in the city, from 8 to 11 euros.
It is also planned to introduce a tax for tourists arriving in Amsterdam for just a day, as is done in Venice.
