Turkmen ceramic artist Dilber Umarova took 2nd place and won a cash prize worth $1 000 in a competition among potters as part of the International Pottery Forum, which was held in the city of Rishtan, Uzbekistan.
More than 60 craftsmen from 30 countries of the world, as well as about 100 potters from 14 regions of Uzbekistan took part in the competition.
Dilber devoted her entire life to working with small plastics. Her personal exhibition in Ashgabat, where she demonstrated many of her works, once again proved that Dilber ceramics does not leave anyone indifferent. Her works glow with happiness, love and kindness.
Dilber spoke about her participation in the competition:
“I sent photographs of my works to the competition, which I showed at my personal exhibition in February. I immediately received an invitation from the forum organizers and a request to bring all these works with me. When I was announced as one of the winners, it was so unexpected for me, because famous masters from 30 countries of the world took part in the competition! This recognition is a great honor for me!”
7 artists from Turkmenistan went to the forum in Uzbekistan: four ceramists and three masters of applied art.
The forum was organized jointly by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Art Association and the administration of the city of Fergana.
