An international conference “Independence of Turkmenistan: experience and prospects for the development of international cooperation” was held in Ashgabat on Friday, timed to coincide with the celebration of the 32nd anniversary of the country’s independence.

The forum, organized at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, brought together leaders and representatives of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, members of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, heads and employees of ministries and departments, heads and representatives of diplomatic missions of foreign states and representative offices of international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan.

The conference was also attended by teaching staff and students of universities in Turkmenistan, representatives of foreign and national media.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, opening the conference, noted that the country is confidently moving along the path of large-scale transformations in all spheres, successfully solving the task set by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty and the President of Turkmenistan to promote the country into the ranks of modern developed countries of the world. At the same time, it was emphasized that the most important condition for this was Turkmenistan’s course towards international cooperation, openness to the world, and readiness for partnership in all areas.

Speakers during the conference noted that over the years of independence, Turkmenistan has achieved great success in foreign policy and diplomacy, in the comprehensive modernization of economic sectors, and the consistent increase in the level of social well-being of the population. The country is effectively implementing large-scale reforms and implementing transformations in socio-economic development, and implementing national programs and projects.

Taking an active part in global political, diplomatic, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other processes, it is increasingly revealing its potential in achieving sustainable development goals.

As part of the international conference, an exhibition was organized dedicated to the achievements and successes of the country over the years of independence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
