In the emergency room at Covington Medical Center, the girl reported that she realized she had swallowed an earpiece after waking up in the middle of the night. Kennedy's mother was able to connect to headphones, which, even being in the stomach, still perfectly conveyed the sounds made by the body and the girl's laughter.
A CT scan showed that the earpiece was stuck in a dangerous position, requiring immediate surgery. The patient underwent endoscopic surgery. The removed earphone was still in working order.
