The Libyan Bureau for Economic Cooperation in Turkmenistan paid tribute to the victims of the devastating flood in Libya. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in the country, representatives of public and international organizations, and the media.
Vepa Hajiyev made an entry in the book of condolences to the victims of the devastating flood, conveying words of sincere empathy and support at this difficult moment to the relatives and friends of the victims, and also wished a speedy recovery to the victims.
Let us remind that on September 10, as a result of heavy rains caused by Hurricane “Daniel”, two dams collapsed near the Mediterranean city of Derna in northeastern Libya. Cities and towns were flooded.
According to the latest Red Cross estimates, floods in Libya more than 11 thousand people died and more than 20 000 are missing. UN officials say the country is experiencing a “disaster of epic proportions”.
