The XXIX meeting of the Council of Heads of State News Agencies of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held in Bishkek.

The event was attended by heads of news agencies from Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. Representatives of state news agencies of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan were present as invited participants, BELTA reports.

On the sidelines of the meeting, elections were held for the Council of Heads of State News Agencies of the CIS. As a result, TASS General Director Andrey Kondrashov was elected chairman of the board.

The meeting participants also discussed the results of the activities of state news agencies for 2022-2023, and outlined priority areas of work for 2024.

The next meeting of the Council of Heads of State News Agencies of the Commonwealth of Independent States will be held in Moscow in September 2024.
